From a Disused Space to a Premium Storage Centre

The building on Reform Street was once home to workwear, tools and trade supplies — but its location, size, and structure made it ideal for something bigger. Jamie and Paul Budding recognised that Hull needed a modern, secure, easy-to-use storage facility right in the heart of the city. With that spark of an idea, Lockd Future Self Storage was born.

Working alongside Kuboid, the brothers set out to create a premium, efficient, future-ready facility designed around the needs of Hull’s residents, students, and businesses.

Smart Layout & Space Maximisation

To unlock the building’s potential, Kuboid designed a two-tier layout with integrated mezzanine floors. This allowed the creation of 200 modern storage units in a wide mix of sizes — from 25 sq ft to 200 sq ft — plus double-stacked locker units perfect for student storage or short-term overspill.

The result is a clean, bright, easy-to-navigate facility that feels premium yet practical for everyday use.

Security & Technology at the Core

Security has always been central to Lockd’s identity. Several industry specialists joined forces to protect every corner of the facility:

  • PTI Security Systems: Installed a full access-control system for seamless, secure entry.
  • DSOC Security: Provide professional 24/7 remote CCTV monitoring.
  • Transdek: Supplied the industrial-grade goods lift to keep the flow of customer access smooth and reliable.
  • ACTIVE CCTV: Installed a cutting-edge AI-enabled camera system covering the entire building.
